Superintendent’s Biography

Mareka Austin is beyond excited and humbled to have been selected to serve as Superintendent of Premont ISD. She accepted a 3-year contract at the October 20, 2025 board meeting.  Her first official day on the job is tentatively scheduled to begin once she establishes a residency in the surrounding area.  In her own words, "I am ready to serve alongside the faculty and the community to get the job done!!" Mareka Austin has served as a certified data-informed growth coach, principal, assistant principal, curriculum writer and math teacher. Ms. Austin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Central Arkansas and a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. Ms. Austin is an advocate for all learners and she strongly believes that all students will succeed when equipped with the necessary support. Ms. Austin is driven by her commitment to build positive relationships and to equip educators to educate, encourage, and empower every student every day. When she is not working, she enjoys running, traveling and spending time with family. Please help us welcome Mareka Austin to Premont ISD!
