...Heat Index values 105 and 109 degrees inclusive this afternoon and early evening... The combination of expected air and dewpoint temperatures will result in Heat Index values between 105 and 109 degrees inclusive for the remainder of this afternoon and early evening, over the sections of South Texas, generally south of a line from Rockport to Encinal. Some locations over the southern Coastal Bend, including the cities of Corpus Christi and Kingsville, may experience Heat Index values around 110 degrees for less than 2 hours. Conditions will improve significantly by early tonight in response to decreasing temperatures. Residents with outdoor activities planned are urged to drink plenty of water, wear light weight and light colored clothing and take frequent breaks from the heat. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
