TIPS FOR COMPLETING COLLEGE APPLICATIONS

 · Know application fees and deadlines

· Type or very neatly print all information. Remember your application is often the first impression a college has of you. You can apply online for most public institutions in Texas at www.applytexas.org

· Include everything that is requested. If an essay is required, be sure to have someone review the draft. · Arrange to have all necessary transcripts, records, ACT/SAT scores sent to the school(s) you apply. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO HAVE YOUR TRANSCRIPT SENT! Be sure to check that all your materials have been received by that university.

· Apply early. Many colleges operate by rolling admissions and let you know their decision quickly. Also applying early allows enough time to be sure you have sent all of the required documents. Seniors planning to attend college should have:

 · Taken an ACT or SAT at least once

· Applied to several colleges or universities

· Requested that your transcript be sent to any college applied to

· Checked on THEA status and whether or not the THEA or similar test needs to be taken · Checked and/or applied for housing
